The studio behind the feed — Torrance, CA

Same
Ears.

Zephyr Lane Audio is a one-desk podcast studio on Torrance Blvd. We don't hand your show around a queue — the same editor mixes it from the first stem to the published feed, so a whole season stays on one target and one tone.

How this started

Built around one problem: shows that drift.

Zephyr Lane Audio started because founders kept sending in feeds where every episode sounded like a different podcast — one loud and brittle, the next buried and boomy, guest mics all over the place. That drift almost always comes from a rotating cast of editors, each with their own chain and their own guess at a loudness target.

So we built the opposite. One desk, one editor per show, one documented target: −16 LUFS stereo, true-peak under −1 dBTP, repair passed through iZotope RX before a single EQ move. Your intro bed, your host's voice, your ad-read levels — all logged and held steady across the whole season.

It's a small operation on purpose. We'd rather run a handful of shows that sound identical week to week than push volume through a ticket queue and lose the thread of what your feed is supposed to sound like.

How we run the desk

Four rules the mix never breaks.

Not a manifesto — the actual working constraints that keep your feed consistent from episode 1 to episode 40.

Repair, then shape

De-noise, de-click, de-ess and mouth-click removal happen first, on the raw stems. EQ and compression only touch clean audio — never a noise floor baked into the tone.

One documented target

Every episode lands at −16 LUFS stereo (−19 mono) with true-peak held under −1 dBTP. Your numbers are written down, so week 12 matches week 1 whoever the guest is.

Your master, your sign-off

Nothing gets invoiced until you've heard the delivered master and approved it. Revisions are quoted in from the start, not bolted on after.

The same set of ears

You get one editor who learns your hosts, your bed, and your quirks — not a queue that reassigns your show to whoever's free that afternoon.

On the desk

What your stems actually run through.

The signal chain isn't a secret. Here's the room your audio passes through on the way to a finished episode.

Repair
iZotope RXSpectral de-noise, de-click, de-hum, dialogue isolation and mouth-click removal — the first pass on every raw track.
Edit
Pro Tools + ReaperComp editing across takes, per-speaker gating, cross-talk cleanup and room-tone matching for multi-mic rooms.
Metering
Loudness to specIntegrated LUFS and true-peak metered against your target on every episode — checked, not eyeballed.
Monitoring
Nearfields & a treated roomMixed on calibrated nearfield monitors and reference headphones in an acoustically treated space, not a laptop in a café.
Delivery
MP3 + WAV mastersTimestamped show notes, full transcript, chapter markers and audiogram clips — staged straight to your host on request.
Records
Riverside & SquadCastWe work from separated multitrack exports so a laptop mic and a broadcast mic can sit in the same room, evenly.

Who you're actually emailing

A working editor, not an inbox.

When you send files to Zephyr Lane, they land with the person who mixes them. No account manager relaying notes to a room you never see. You describe your target once, and the same editor holds it for the run of the show.

That means feedback loops are short — a note on episode 3 changes how episode 4 is cut, without a hand-off getting lost. It also means we stay small on purpose, taking on a limited number of standing shows so nobody's feed becomes overflow work.

Turnaround

Three business days from clean stems on single episodes; a standing 48-hour slot on the season retainer.

Scope

Quoted up front against your track count and runtime — you approve the number before anything gets edited.

Commitment

No retainers required to start. Try one episode, then move to a weekly cadence only if the sound holds up.
